Why Us?

Dedicated to quality service, we offer the best on-the-ground service and support possible. We are situated in the heart of Lhasa, only a few minutes’ walk from the Jokhang, where it’s easy to keep track of all that is going on.
With a focus on the historic, religious and artistic traditions of the region, we specialize in introducing groups and individuals to both the traditional highlights and to the more remote areas of the Tibetan Plateau.
We host groups (large & small) from neighboring Asian & Buddhist nations who are approaching their trip equally as a spiritual pilgrimage and a sightseeing adventure.
All itineraries suggested here are suitable as private departures for FIT travelers or for groups of any size and all maybe customized to suit you.We provide the framework for you to experience and to explore - step out of your comfort zone and experience this magical place. It is a world of color that will constantly touch all your senses. It can be very exciting and, due to its bureaucracy, sometimes frustrating.
Our guides work for us and are trained by us to meet your expectations (and more) and ensure you get the most from your trip.
Some of our itineraries operate in remote areas and are by nature not conventional holidays; conditions are harsher, events less predictable, infrastructure less developed and the lifestyles very different to those you are familiar with. The standards of accommodation and communications are not up to Western levels.
However good our organization is, we are at the mercy of the unexpected, and whilst most of the time things go smoothly, this cannot always be guaranteed. The unpredictable, however often leads to unexpected encounters and the best experiences.

Trip Style

  • Due to government decreed permit regulations controlling travel in Tibet your tour must be organised and you must be accompanied by a licensed Tibetan guide throughout - this is a government regulation, not ours.

  • Our trips however are NOT regimented, follow-the-flag style tours. They are your tours to design and implement to suit you (within only the bounds of practicability & law).

  • Our tours offer a balance of included sightseeing and free time to make your own discoveries. Our trained guides ensure you get the most from your trip - get to know them, and your drivers, and get to know their culture through them - they are the best introduction you can have to their world.

  • Tibet, despite western media’s “warm and fluffy” image, remains a very harsh region in many respects and the veneer of development that exists in central Tibet (Lhasa, Shigatse) is not primarily aimed to western travellers - who area relatively insignificant aspect of society and the economy.

  • You are stepping into another time and place. In modernization Tibet is a world away from China and whilst Lhasa and the main towns (Gyantse, Shigatse, Tsetang) have most of the facilities you are accustomed to; in more remote areas the standard of accommodation goes down, showers are harder to come by and food selection maybe limited.

Thematic Journeys

Do you have a specific interest which you would like to focus on during your trip?

  • For example - Tibetan art. Include time at a workshop where images of

Tibetan deities are made, both for home and public altars. Or learn how thangkas are painted - try this yourself These are genuine visits to learn from artists known personally to us - not shopping expeditions.

Let us know what interests you and we can work with you to emphasis these aspects in your trip.
